SohoPay is a closed-loop network: agents can only pay merchants that have registered and passed Know Your Business (KYB) verification. This page lists exactly what you need to submit, the timeline, and the appeal path. It is written for the finance or compliance person filling in the form as much as the engineer wiring the API.

Why KYB is required

The merchant allowlist is enforced on-chain — an agent physically cannot pay an unregistered address. KYB is what stands between “any wallet” and “a verified business on the allowlist”. It protects operators (their agents can only pay vetted counterparties) and keeps the network compliant with sanctions and AML obligations. KYB is required for mainnet merchants only.
Sandbox skips KYB entirely. Sign up at the Dashboard, choose Developer sandbox, and start integrating today. You can complete your full technical integration on Base Sepolia while verification runs in parallel — see the Quickstart.

What you’ll need to submit

Gather these before you start — incomplete submissions are the most common cause of delay: Submission is done in the Dashboard under Settings → Business verification. Documents upload directly; nothing needs to be emailed.

How verification works

Verification is powered by Didit, which SohoPay integrates for both business verification and wallet screening:
  1. You submit the KYB form and documents in the dashboard.
  2. Didit verifies the entity, signer identity, and beneficial owners, and screens your settlement wallet against sanctions and risk lists (see AML & Wallet Screening).
  3. SohoPay reviews the result and approves or rejects the application.
  4. You receive the decision by email, and — if you have webhooks configured — a merchant.kyb.approved or merchant.kyb.rejected event. See Webhooks.
Timeline: 1–3 business days from a complete submission. Most straightforward applications clear in one.
The clock starts when the submission is complete. If Didit or SohoPay requests additional documents, the 1–3 day window restarts from when you provide them.

Rejection reasons and appeals

To appeal, reply to the rejection email or write to support@sohopay.xyz with your merchant ID (mch_...) and supporting documentation. Appeals are reviewed within the same 1–3 business day window.

Escalation path

1

Check status in the dashboard

Settings → Business verification shows the current state (submitted, in review, action required, approved, rejected) and any outstanding document requests.
2

Contact support

If your application has been in review for more than 3 business days with no action-required notice, email support@sohopay.xyz with your merchant ID. Normal-priority response is under 8 hours per the support SLA.
3

Request compliance escalation

If support cannot resolve it — typically borderline industry classifications — ask for escalation to the compliance team in the same thread. Enterprise integrators on Slack can raise it there directly.

Pre-submission checklist

  • Legal entity name matches the corporate registry exactly
  • Signer’s government ID is current and legible
  • All beneficial owners ≥25% are listed
  • Settlement wallet address is correct and controlled by your entity
  • Business description honestly reflects what agents will be paying you for
  • Sandbox integration already underway so approval is your last blocker, not your first
